Here in LA we don’t get too much of a fall—at least not by East Coast standards—but the minute I start to feel a chill in the air and a whisper of those Santa Ana winds, I want to bust out my sweaters, boots, and pumpkin recipes. It’s definitely my favorite time of year to cook because the best foods are in season. Pumpkin is a great fall ingredient because it’s very nutritious (full of fiber and vitamin A) and versatile, albeit a little labor intensive if you cook it fresh. When you shop for an organic canned brand, though, all you get is pure pumpkin without all the fuss. It’s easy to throw in smoothies, desserts, and soups. This recipe is a good day-starter, and will keep you full for a while. Here’s to homemade healthy deliciousness!
