Who says smoothies are just for summer? As fall and winter settle in, step up your smoothie game with all the seasons have to offer — spices galore. Ginger, cinnamon, cloves and turmeric — they all will add a special kick to your basic, go-to blends.

Try these healthful recipes to satisfy cravings and boost overall wellness. Insider tip: swap out frozen fruit and ice for room temperature fruit for a warmer smoothie bowl.

Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 pitted dates
  • 1 scoop 22 Days Nutrition vanilla plant protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp each cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cloves
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Califia Farms Almondmilk
  • Ice to thicken

METHOD

Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add walnuts, pumpkin seeds, coconut shreds, cacao nibs or goji berries as toppings.

Peanut Butter Apple Chai Spice Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large banana, sliced and frozen (very ripe bananas work best)
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Califia Farms Almondmilk
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 2-4 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup loosely packed baby spinach
  • 1 scoop 22 Days Nutrition vanilla plant protein powder
  • 2 dates
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

METHOD

Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend on high until smooth and creamy. Suggested toppings include gluten free granola, hemp seeds, pomegranates, walnuts.
